In Dragon Age: Origins, even if a character is not in your party, will their approval still increase/decrease?

For example, in the quest "The Urn of Sacred Ashes", (SPOILERS, sort of), you will gain approval from Shale, Zevran, and Morrigan if you decide to defile the ashes, but your approval will drop from Alistair, Leliana, Sten, Oghren and Wynn. Even if my party consists of the Gray Warden (me), Shale, Zevran, and Morrigan, and I defile the ashes, will my approval drop from my other companions? In Dragon Age: Origins, even if a character is not in your party, will their approval still increase/decrease?
No. Your approval rating will only change with those present in your party, the only exception being that Wynne will talk to you when you get back to camp and leave your party whether present or not. If she's present in your party when you defile the ashes, she turns hostile.

Edit:

You are partly correct. I forgot about Leliana. Leliana, depending on if she's hardened or not and if the Warden has a high coercion skill, can be present in the party even if you choose to defile the ashes. If Leliana is in the party, and not hardened, she will attack. If she's not with you, she'll confront you upon returning to camp. If you have high persuasion, you can lie and avoid her leaving.

However, Wynne will also turn hostile if present in the party. If not, she confronts you at camp and will leave.

So, to summarize, Wynne will leave your party. She cannot be persuaded or intimidated to stay, but Leliana can, depending on certain factors.
