What's a good dragon age combat tactics scheme where I don't have to worry about my other characters?

I just want to focus on my main character and not worry about switching and stuff so is there a good scheme for combat tactics where I wont have to worry about my characters being stupid and dying? And playing effectively?What's a good dragon age combat tactics scheme where I don't have to worry about my other characters?
There is actually tactics setup for all your players in the party. If you go to the character menu (this is when you press select for PS3 console), after inventory is the character stats, there is an option you can set the tactics up (like defender, healer and etc), like when enemy is close use this skill, when sorrounded with enemies use this skill etc.
